Our Favourite Fujifilm Prime Lenses.
We’ve tried almost all of the prime lenses Fuji has to offer with the exception of the 16mm 1.4, 18mm f2, 27mm f2.8, and the 90mm f2.
The primes we kept are:

Here’s the Cole’s Notes
Rokinon 12mm f2 | Best for interior design, architecture, and anytime you’re in a tight space. It’s light, sharp, but you need to use it with a lens hood to reduce lens flare and a manual focus only.
Fuji 23mm f2 | Solid all-around lens. Light, weather-sealed, and fast autofocus (especially for video).
Fuji 23mm f1.4 | Again, we like this focal length as it’s versatile enough for indoor shooting and travelling. The true appeal is the 1.4 for that nice bokeh and it produces more muted tones in the photo. Much like the 35mm.
Fuji 35mm 1.4 | Known for it’s special way of rendering photos. It’s more muted and film-like. A great lens for portraits and detail shots. The downside is that the autofocus does make noise. I’ve shown sound samples in the video above.
Fuji 56mm 1.2 | The bokeh king. If you do portraits this is definitely a lens to have. The only downside for us is the focal length. We shoot a lot indoors, so things can get tight.
The 23mm 1.4, 35mm 1.4 and 56 1.2 would be a great trio for wedding photography.
If we had to choose only 1 prime lens it would be either the 23mm 1.4 or the 35mm 1.4. If we were just enthusiasts, we would pick the 23mm. If we wanted to make money with the lens, we would pick the 35mm. The reason being the focal length at 35mm adds more compression and bokeh than the 23mm which helps you create more “professional” looking shots to the average client. It’s what people want when they hire you to create content. Not saying it’s better, but we would play to want clients want. Hope that makes sense.
Please check out the video above for photo examples so you can see how we use them and what can be done with each.
Cheers!
